10 ways to share the abolish war message

  1. Put up the MAW poster with the Preamble to the UN Charter ‘We the Peoples… determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war…’ A4 on card. Ideal for notice boards, or a prominent window. Order from https://abolishwar.net/shop/
  1. Run a fundraising book sale, coffee morning, cycle ride or whatever, to raise funds for MAW. We need them.
  1. Book your place for the annual MAW Remembrance lecture to be given this year by Rowan Williams on ‘The Changing face of War: thoughts on the Erosion of Ethics’. 3pm Sunday 8 November in London.
  1. Get together a small local team to organise a sixth form conference on alternatives to war. See our website for guidelines: https://abolishwar.net/campaigning/campaigning-tools/organising-a-sixth-form-conference/
  1. Wear a red and white poppy together during the Remembrance season and be ready to explain why.
  1. Give a MAW membership subscription to a friend or relation as their Christmas present or order copies of our little booklet of quotations ‘From War to Peace’ and give them as stocking fillers for grown-ups.
  1. Take photographs of local peace events and post them on social media with a short explanation.
  1. Walk one of the city ‘Peace Trails’. Use the winter months to research and create a trail in your own town or city.
  1. Link up with local peace, environmental and anti-poverty groups and suggest putting on an exhibition or event which demonstrates the connections between issues: climate change, poverty, migration and armed conflict.
  1. Write to your MP about the proposed increases in UK Defence expenditure and suggest the spending priorities which, in your view, would do more to increase human security here and across the globe.
