What information do we collect about you?

As a member of Movement for the Abolition of War we keep a record of your name, address, telephone number(s) and/or email address, if you have supplied these to us.

How do we store this information?

Your information is stored in electronic form on a database kept by the membership secretary. Your membership application / renewal forms are also kept as hard copy by the membership secretary.

How will we use the information about you?

We need this information so that we can send you the newsletter, Abolish War, and other important news relating to the organisation, such as notification of the Annual General Meeting, and other important MAW events.

If you have given us an email address we will use this to communicate important events, in order to save postage. We shall send email notification of the newsletter only if you have requested that we do so.

If you have given us an email address we shall ask you whether you wish to receive further communications by email, such as information about peace matters which may be of interest to you, actions (physical or otherwise) that you could take and details of peace-related events in your area. You may terminate this service at any time by replying ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ to an email.

When we email members your name will be hidden from other people on the email list.

How do we share your information?

We never pass any of your personal information to external organisations, apart from sending a list of names and addresses to our printer who organises the Abolish War distribution.

Access to and amending your information

If you would like a copy of some or all of the personal information we hold about you, please email membership@abolishwar.org.uk or write to us at: Movement for the Abolition of War, 1 Old Mill Place, Vicarage Lane, Haslemere GU27 1NE. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. Please ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.

Changes to the General Privacy Policy

We plan to keep our Privacy Policy under regular review and will inform the membership in our newsletter of any changes. This Privacy Policy was approved in February 2021.
