Our Speakers

Mererid Hopwood
Vice-President of MAW. Professor of Welsh and Celtic Studies at Aberystwyth University. Award winning Welsh poet and published author. Inspired at primary school by the annual Welsh youth message of peace and goodwill to become a lifelong campaigner for peace, particularly within Cymdeithas y Cymod (the Fellowship of Reconciliation in Wales). Instrumental in the recent establishment of the Academi Heddwch Cymru – the new research institute for peace matters within Welsh Universities.

Paul Ingram
Originator of the Stepping Stones Approach, the backbone of the 16-nation Stockholm Initiative for Nuclear Disarmament formed in 2019. Former Executive Director of BASIC (British American Security Information Council) 2007-2019. Weekly talk show host on Iranian TV covering political and security matters 2007-2012. Green Party Co-Leader of Oxford City Council (2000-02) and Green rep on the Stop the War Coalition 2002-05. Host of Peckham Quaker Meeting since 2003.
