MAW (Movement for the Abolition of War) condemns the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran. We express our concern that these reckless attacks have now cost lives across the Middle East.
We call on the UK Government and the devolved administrations to clearly condemn this unlawful action.
We condemn the approval given by the British Government for British bases to be used to support this illegal, immoral and reckless military action.
Our thoughts are with the loved ones of those who have been killed or injured as a result of this ill-advised and unprovoked onslaught.
We echo the words of US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
“Violence begets violence. We learned this lesson in Iraq. We learned this lesson in Afghanistan. And we are about to learn it in Iran. Bombs have yet to create enduring democracies in the region and this will be no different.
This war is unlawful. It is unnecessary. And it will be catastrophic”.
