Alternative Remembrance

Prior to our AGM and Remembrance Lecture, MAW members are encouraged to attend the

National Alternative Remembrance Ceremony

in nearby Tavistock Square, WC1H 9EU, from 12 noon to 1pm, on Sun 9 Nov.

The speakers at this event, organised by the Peace Pledge Union, will be

Sir Mark Rylance – Oscar-winning actor, director, playwright and peace campaigner

Rachel Taylor from Every Casualty Counts, an international charity dedicated to ensuring that every life lost in armed conflict is recognised

Hosted by Kate Smurthwaite – PPU member, feminist activist, comedian and star of the News at Kate video series.

Two minutes silence will be observed and white poppy wreaths will be laid in memory of all victims of war, both civilian and military, of all nationalities.

In addition, Every Casualty Counts, is planning a large-scale projection on Friends House, Euston Road on the evening of 9 November (to be confirmed).
