This slim book is a record of a unique conference, “Alternatives to War in a Time of Global Crisis”, organised by the Movement for the Abolition of War (MAW) and held in September 2024 in Sands Film Studio, Rotherhithe, London. Our inspirational speakers were: Colin Archer, Gwen Burnyeat, Jonathan Cohen, Diana Francis, John Gittings, Tanya Hubbard, and Paul Rogers.

The video of the conference was available after the event, and volunteers transcribed the contributions from the speakers and audience. From keynote speeches on the themes of world peace, to case studies of practical peacebuilding in Colombia, Myanmar and the Philippines recounted by active practitioners, this is a fascinating collection of insights, in eight completely different voices, into the difficulties and possibilities of finding alternatives to war. A must-read for everyone curious as to how we can get rid of war.
